Samantha Fortin, PhD
Central Sites of Action Mediating Food Intake Control
Sam received her PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Illinois at Chicago. In the lab of Dr. Mitchell Roitman, Sam investigated the influence of physiological state on phasic dopamine responses to rewarding and aversive stimuli. In the Hayes lab, Sam is using behavioral, virogenetic, pharmacological, molecular and imaging techniques to explore central sites of action that mediate the food intake suppressive effects of established (e.g. GLP-1R agonists) and novel pharmacotherapies for obesity.
